Wi-Fi and network requirements for AirCheq and Netatmo sensors

Wi-Fi and network requirements for AirCheq and Netatmo sensors

Use this overview with your IT administrator to check whether an AirCheq or Netatmo sensor can connect to the network.

WI-FI REQUIREMENTS
• Wi-Fi: IEEE 802.11 b/g/n on 2.4 GHz
• Security: Open, WEP, WPA or WPA2-Personal (TKIP and AES)
• Network: Wi-Fi router with internet access
• IP address: assigned automatically via DHCP; a fixed IP address based on the MAC address is also possible
• Protocol and ports: TCP; ports 25050 and 1883 must be open
• Data usage: approximately 0.3 MB per sensor per day

NOT SUPPORTED
Networks that require a user account or browser login page, and public hotspots, are not supported.

To connect to an open network without a password, enter a single space as the password once and select Join.

IP, DNS AND MAC ADDRESS
The sensor receives an IP address from the Wi-Fi network via DHCP. The DNS address is supplied by the internet provider or network administrator. You can check AirCheq DNS records via nslookup.io.

The MAC address is the sensor ID: a combination of numbers and letters, for example a848faf5dfb6. You can find it under System information in the sensor settings and on the packaging.

SECURITY AND COMMUNICATION
Netatmo and AirCheq sensors use two-way communication over Wi-Fi. The sensor is not an externally accessible access point and cannot be used to obtain access to the connected Wi-Fi network from outside.

The sensor does not forward network data. Security therefore also depends on the security of the wireless network to which the sensor is connected.
